TheAduni and the 95 years old tortoise
I visited on Sunday with my Asalatu(a place where we worship every Sunday) members, we go on a road trip every year to celebrate Hijrah (Islamic New Year) and this year we visited the Lekki Conservation Center popularly known as LCC and it was full of fun and adventure
We got to LCC around 11am and we were welcomed by monkeys. Monkeys that snatched snacks from those who were eating even toast bread, too bad i wasn’t able to get a picture of the monkeys but i caught one on video.. Watch video below
I thought monkey only eat Bananas
The Monkeys were everywhere, we literally came to the visit the monkeys because they were everywhere, i guess the place is a monkey forest
Beginning of the canopy walk
We started our Adventure by walking down the Wooden Bridge, accompanied by monkeys and we spent close to 30 minutes before we got to the Canopy Walk diversion. The Wooden Bridge walk was kinda scary for some people because the bridge was making creaky sound and beneath the bridge is a mud water and the lady said it deep, so if anything falls down it’s bye bye
It got to a point we had to carry the little ones till we parted ways at the canopy walk, the walk inside the conservation center is a long walk.

About to climb the canopy walk
Getting to the canopy walk, we weren’t allowed to go at a time, it a maximum of 6 people on the bridge at a time so we divided ourselves into groups
The canopy Walk is 401 metres long and it’s divided into 7 bridges so people get to rest, see the world and take amazing pictures.
My group was the second group that climbed the bridge, i lead the group and 3 people in my group were scared to death. It got to a point one of them was calling out her Mum name and saying everything at the same time.
She said and i quote #1000 tò yé kìn fì ra òunjè mò fì ra Ikú meaning #1000 that I’m supposed to use to eat, i used it to pay for my own death, she was literally screaming and crying at the same time.
This was the girl calling out her mum name
Thank God for the Stop Over if not she would have collapsed
The 3 people that were scared in my group were forming hard guy on the first 2 bridges because it wasn’t scary then.
When we got to the 3rd and 4th bridge, the bridges were higher and the breeze was massive there, the bridges were super shaking and we added our own, we were jumping and shaking the bridge at the same time and the 3 of them were screaming and stopped walking.
My Friend and I shaking the bridge
They were literally speaking in tongues and we were making jest of them, i had to run to make a video of them on the bridge.. Watch video below
End of the canopy walk
After the Canopy Walk, we walked down to the picnic area where we ate, played with the fishes in the pond and fed them, we even tried catching one of the fishes but we couldn’t because they had hard body structure and slippery at the same time, one of the fishes even scratched my friend finger.
Then we moved to the body draft game or human board game, i don’t know what it’s called where we snapped picture and did videos and we later sat down to make jest of the people that were scared on the canopy walk.
Each group with different stories and we laughed our hearts out, a lot of people confessed their sin on the bridge because they thought they were going to die but it was fun
5 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN VISITING THE LEKKI CONSERVATION CENTER
- To access the Canopy Walk, you’ll have to pay #1000 and you’ll be given a hand tag, this fee is different from the gate fee and it’s only allowed for those between the ages of 14-65 years of age
- Once you start the walk, you can’t go back unless you go back before you reach the first stop over, once you pass the first stop over, you have to finish what you started
- If you are scared of height, don’t even go near the canopy walk
- The Canopy walk shakes with every step you take and it get scarier and shakes more as you pass the bridges but you’ll enjoy it if you love adventure
- If you get scared easily, don’t look down on the canopy walk, 3 of us did, the remaining 3 couldn’t because they were walking dead already
Even though, i wasn’t able to go to the tree house because i couldn’t locate it, i really enjoyed myself and it was fun.
If you are looking for a place to escape to from the hustling and bustling of Lagos and you love nature, then you should definitely visit the Lekki Conservation Center and if you don’t stay in Lagos and you get to visit, make sure you visit the Lekki Conservation Center before you go back
It’s a perfect place for photoshoot, some people even came to do birthday shoot and if you love adventure, you’ll definitely love the place
