LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF

Dear Younger Self,

I know you are anticipating growing up and becoming an adult, you want to make your own decisions and call the shots, little did you know…….

Younger self, take a deep breath and take one step at a time

To begin with, things can get overwhelming and exciting at the same time. You want to do a whole lot of things.

You want to have the good, bitter and bad memories which are fine but don’t rush things and don’t jump to conclusions so fast

Younger self, make good and exciting memories not a bad full of regrets

Dear Younger Self, It’s okay to have people around you, it’s totally fine to know a lot of people but not everyone is your friend.

Don’t be in a hurry to call everyone your friend, you only know yourself and you don’t know what the other person is capable of doing.

Don’t let anyone manipulate you into doing what you don’t want to, always own up to your words and stand firm in your decisions, don’t be a second fiddle

Younger self, keep good and valuable friendships

Dear Younger Self, You are beautiful, black, and bold. You are the most beautiful girl in the world, my African queen.

Tell this to yourself every day because that’s what you are, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, don’t let anyone’s body shame you.

People can’t get to you and bodies shame you if you don’t allow them. It all starts from you and within you. Self-confidence is all that matters and you can conquer anything

Younger self, you are more than your body shape

Dear Younger Self, Life isn’t a Bed of roses like they always say, you will have tough and crazy times.

It’s normal, it’s all part of growing up. It’s what you do during those tough times that matter It’s okay to cry if you want to, let it all out, don’t bottle up your emotions, talk to someone if you need to, ask for help if you need to the worst thing they’d say to you is NO but you’d be glad you asked for help, trust me.

It’s totally fine to make mistakes because they’d mold you into a better version of yourself

Younger self, you can lose everything but not your self-respect

Dear Younger Self, Don’t be an overthinker, stop worrying too much. 90% of the things you think about, the scenarios you make up in your head will not happen

Stop wasting your time on what-if it will only drag you down and leave you behind. Don’t be afraid to try new things, be expressive.

Everything you want to do, do it now, don’t look back in the next few years and say had I known.

Younger self, learn to embrace and live in the present

Dear Younger Self, Don’t let pain turn you into a bad and wicked person. Learn to forgive people and move on. Don’t let pain and fear hold you down from living your best life.

You have so many gifts to share with the world, don’t let pain and fear hold you down. You can do this, you got this

Younger self, you deserve all the good things in life

Dear Younger Self, Give people their flowers while they are around because everyone can’t be around forever not even your parents. Hug the people you love while they are alive, tell them you love them, reassure them of your love and make them feel loved.

Thank them while they are around for all the love and sacrifice they made for you, it could be anyone not necessarily your family

Younger self, don’t let your ego make you lose the people you love

Dear Younger self, be grateful for what you have and stop worrying about what people think about you because it’s all about you in the end. Never stop searching for blessings because it’s in places you can never imagine.

Be thankful for the people in your life, who support you, let them know how much they mean to you

Relationships take a lot of work, nurture the relationships in your life, and strive to always give more than what you take from them

Younger self, Live for yourself and on your own accord, most importantly be happy
